Visual aspects
You did a good job on using contrast. The journal title draws the attention it should and the rest of the text is ledgable.
But it's missing a little bit of spunk. The cross is interesting but it doesn't stand out as more then just a background. Perhaps you could try giving it more attention, placing it somewhere on its own, or on top of the corner of a box maybe.
Also, the standard css elements tend to make journals a bit static and square. I think its good to try some graphics for style. Creative use of .classes and background orientation goes a long way in realising a design you want
User experience
As with all journals I test them for the people that can't be bothered reading guides. I installed and copied a chunk of lorem ipsum to see how it looks. And it looks just fine
Then trying out the other features available I had to look closely at the artist comments to figure it out. I bit more insightful structure for the artist comments would go a long way.
Or if you have a lot of elements to show, just put up an example journal in a .txt file that users can copy
And also, instead of using spaces, you might want to try html entities to display your code. Try replacing all < with < it won't be recognised as a tag that way but will produce the same character so it can be copy pasted right away.
So overall it's understandable, but it could be made a bit easier.
Technical aspects
The css used to make it all work looks decent. No extraordinary code used as well as no hacks or tricks. It's nice and basic, which usually works best. It just gives limitations on the designing posibilities.
For IE compatability it does reasonably well. Only things to see are that the font is slightly larger, the max-width and min-width are ignored and the thumbsbox seems to be larger then the other boxes.
Very basic, but a well done implementation for the design.
Conclusion
Technically this skin rocks and works smoothly.
But a bit more attention may be given to the design and writing the guide in your artists comments.
Making it both easier to use as well as a bit less static.
